Why we're gathering

Practical AI, built with local people.

Build Week brings visiting and local talent together to explore practical uses of AI, exchange engineering knowledge and develop working prototypes focused on Hokkaido.

Our ambition is to help grow Sapporo as a place where AI engineers build, collaborate, live and work—adding to the region's existing strengths. This week is one small contribution toward that ambition, not an established outcome or an official initiative.

Who it's for

Peers, on both sides of the table.

Visiting participants

Practicing AI/software engineers and technical founders who can contribute independently, enjoy collaboration and want to share their skills.

Local participants

Engineers, technical teams and businesses interested in exploring AI through practical projects and knowledge exchange.

Selection considers skills, interests and willingness to contribute. Existing work commitments are expected, not a reason to say no. This is a focused collaborative program with mentoring and skillshares—not a comprehensive beginner course.

The exchange

Bring your skills. Build with the community.

INCLUDED WITH THE US$250 FEE

Five nights in a private room.

Check-in November 23 · Check-out November 28. Accommodation support is part of an invitation to contribute actively to the local program.

Accommodation support comes with an expectation of active contribution: participants are collaborators, not passive attendees. Contributions are matched to your skills, local needs and availability.

What we ask of you:

  • Attend the core sessions agreed before the event.
  • Help a local team explore a problem and develop an achievable prototype.
  • Share a skill through a short demonstration, workshop or mentoring session.
  • Contribute to Friday's showcase.

We'll agree the core collaboration sessions with the cohort before arrival, alongside protected time for existing work commitments.

Personal projects are welcome during open time and at Friday's showcase.

A week that fits real work

Useful shared time, with your work protected.

  • When you apply, you share your normal working hours, timezone and fixed commitments.
  • Before the event, our AI scheduling assistant contacts accepted participants who opt in to confirm availability.
  • Organizers use this to coordinate core collaboration sessions, skillshares, protected work blocks and optional activities.
  • You review the proposed schedule before it's finalized.

We'll aim to protect your existing commitments and find useful shared time. Some sessions will have fixed times; we'll discuss conflicts before confirming your place.
